Lately, I've been feeling like I'll never accomplish anything, like none of my dreams will come true or that they're too big for my own good. It's a horrible feeling to feel so inadequate. So small in a world so big. Today, I realized something. I realized that if I work at it and have compassion for what I'm doing, I'll have the power to become my dreams and make a difference......right? I sure hope so because I love my dreams, not the ones I have when I'm sleeping, the ones I can control and come from my heart. I love dreaming big and I think that we all should. Sometimes we should dream huge! I think that it's healthy for us to take a break once in a while and see what our heart and our imagination can create, sometimes it's beautiful and we just want it to come true and if it's our true heart's desire and if it's possible, I think that we should try our best to work at it. I know that in this new year, I'll be working on my dream. I'll be trying to make a million hearts smile. I don't know how it will work, but I'm going to try. I'll go into more detail when I get it started but I think I'm really going to make it work. I was so happy when I realized that I'm not just stuck in one place. I cried when I realized that it's possible for me to do bigger and better things. I felt like I was being held back but no one is holding me back because I believe in myself. If you believe in yourself, if you have hope for you and your future, no one can keep you down, no one can keep you away from what's yours. "When you have hope, you're nobody's prisoner." It's true! Don't forget to believe in yourself and follow your dreams. be safe and be careful. be beautiful. be you. be strong. be brave. be true to yourself. be the best you that you can be. be amazing. be powerful. be loving. be you. be a dreamer. it's okay. don't be afraid. :)

the more than average girl.

Once upon a time, in an average town, in an average house, there lived an average girl named Amani. Amani was always very sad and confused because she felt like everyone in the world was always really sad or really angry. She spent most of her days crying for all the sad hearts in the world. When she couldn't take the confusion anymore, she decided to ask God for help. Her special prayer went like this:

Dear God,

Help the world to smile again. Please end the pain, the sadness, and the tears. Please bring people happiness. Comfort the sad, the sick, and the lonely. Heal the broken hearts. Help us bring happiness back to our faces. Help us achieve peace. Help us to let love into our hearts again. I don't want to cry anymore. Please help.

It's possible for the world to be happy again. It's a goal that we all need to work together to achieve. It's possible and we can make it happen. We need the help of ourselves and othes. We need to know that we can't do it alone. We need to know that it's possible to make this work. :)

Also, the power of prayer is amazing. If you've never tried it, go ahead and go at it. It has the power to work wonders. :)

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

steps to loving you!

• It starts with knowing who you are. Knowing your values, what you believe in, what you stand for, what's important to you.
• Then you have to understand, that as beautiful as you are, you have flaws. Flaws that you need to embrace because they make you who you are. You can't spend your life stressing out over your flaws. They're beautiful and you need to love them. They're a part of you.
• After you've learned to love your flaws and leave them be, find the good in yourself. Figure out what makes you special and what you love about your body, your self, and your personality. Focus on the good for a while and let it make you happy.
• It's not all easy, but this may be one of the hardest parts. You need to learn to love and respect others. Accept them for who they are. It's possible and you can do it.

when you love yourself, you believe in yourself and anything and everything is possible. It'll make you stronger and when you love yourself, your beauty shines through for all people to see!

Isn't it sad? My wish for you all is to understand that the world in which we live is brutal, it's rough, it's confusing, it's real but it can be beautiful. It will give us strength. I just don't feel like myself anymore. I miss crying. I miss being sad but I love being happy. I love it. I love the confidence that I carry now but sometimes I just think I shouldn't have it, like it doesn't belong to me. I miss all the tears and I miss being in the darkness. I haven't felt like killing myself in what feels like forever but why do I miss that feeling? I should be happy that my smiles are meaningful and that my heart is always happy. Why do I want to be so sad? Why do I crave all the tears? I guess truly, I feel really empty inside now that I'm not as sad all the time. My head is really coudy and I'm just confused about it all. Sometimes, I feel like I need some darkness in my life. Why am I afraid to be so happy?

I want us all to crave happiness and for us to ultimately achieve it. No one should be in the darkenss. Don't be afraid of happiness. Be brave and embrace it. We all need to. I hope that we can all smile meaningful smiles and that our hearts stay happy. I hope that we can all feel better in the light and no longer fear it. I wish we were all fearless and knew how to love ourselves to the point where we could achieve happiness and freedom all the pain. I believe that the sun will one day shine for all of us. I really do.

I don't know if you can see it all clearly but I hope you get the general idea. One side says hope and the other side says egibitow. It means every girl is beautiful in their own way. I made that in ceramics. I'll make more things that say egibitow on it now and hopefully they'll be easier to photograph.

Sometimes, I get really confused on what I want to do with my life. It's all a big mess in my head. What should I do? What if I don't get into this school or that program? It all causes a headache that is just way too big. I've learned that sometimes, I just need to take a break to breathe and be patient. As long as I work hard for what I want and believe, I'll do my best.

We're going to make it. Who ever you are, where ever you are, what ever you do, as long as you believe, you're going to make it so don't give up. I believe in you and you're special. You're worth all the fight that you've got and that's a lot. You're gonna make it. Don't doubt yourself. You can reach the moon and even if you don't, you'll land among the stars.

To a sad face and an empty soul,

I would like to send you my deepest and most sincere apologies. There are not enough words to describe how sorry I am. For each second you felt lost, for each of the millions of tears you shed, for each day you felt so so sick and tired, I'm sorry. It was too much for you to handle but I applaud you for each day you found the strength to deal with it all. The tears have stopped and all is calm now my dear. I'm so sorry you tried to find comfort in things that couldn't really help, like sex, drugs, food, and cutting. I wish you were able to see the toll it took on your precious body. we cry for a lot of reasons. It's okay to cry. When we cry and let it all out, we feel so much better. don't be ashamed of releasing your tears. don't be afraid to let it all out. go ahead and and cry if you need to. It won't change anything about you. The idea of crying is beautiful. It may not look so pretty when you look in the mirror but when you cry, it's so good for you. It's a chance to let some pain out of your body. it's a chance to release your troubles and clear your mind. It's nothing to worry about and we should embrace the act of crying and all of its beauty. It's something that will surprisingly make us strong. It doesn't weaken us like most people think. It makes us human. It helps us and protects us. It's something really special and when you think about it, tear drops are quite powerful. They save us.

It's about love....

Love takes courage but it's worth it. Sometimes it's easy to love and sometimes it takes some work to love some one but it's important to give away love. It's important to love others. It should make you feel good inside. Besides making you feel good, when you love other, you feel more love also. You feel really good about yourself. Try doing a random act of kindness, when you see someone smile, you know how good it is to give away love. It just feels so good and so right. Try it, you'll like it. that reminds me of a song from Yo Gabba Gabba but it has good meaing behind it. It won't hurt to try. Give love a try and spread love like wildfire.

This is one of my favorite quotes. It reminds me to never give up. Things will always get better, they can't stay bad forever. This quote is a favorite of mine because it reminds me that it will stop raining. It's important never to forget that. Has something to do with keeping hope alive or something amazing like that. Just know that when things are bad, you have to be strong because you'll be able to smile much brighter when the sun is out and things get better. Sometimes things go bad so we can appreciate it when they're going right. These bad times make us stronger and we're already stonger than we think we are to begin with. Just imagine how strong we are after making it through each "stormy" day.

We all know hope is real. It's what helps us fight through the hard days. It's what keeps us strong. It's the force that reminds us never to give up. I pray that we've all been able to experience the power of hope. Even if it's just the push that gets you to smile even though you don't feel like it, it's still an amazing force. It's something tremendous in whatever amount you see it in. It's always real. It's always powerful. It's always there for us when we're ready to find it but what does it look like?......I'll keep adding and adding, this isn't it....

This week, when I was in bed thinking, I realized that smiles are so beautiful. I think they're taken for granted sometimes. I have never seen a smile that I didn't love. I think sometimes it takes a lot of courage to smile but when we smile, especially in the midst of one of life's storms, it's a truly magical event. It's a shame that some people can't find a reason to smile sometimes. To all of those people, I want you to know that somewhere, someone is thinking about you and how your smile has made their day. Someone loves your smile and wants nothing else but to see it. I'm one person that wants to see you smile.
It only takes 17 muscles to smile and over 40 to frown. Even though it can take a lot of courage to smile sometimes, it's not really that much work!
I hope we can all find a chance to smile. To shine and show the world something really beautiful. Don't be afraid to share it with the world. We all need a beautiful ray of love and hope, all that power packed in one little smile. Let's use that power for greatness.

You Deserved To Be Loved.

LOVE is a beautiful and amazing thing. It will always be beautiful no matter who is involved. We were all made to love ourselves and one another. No one should ever be judged because of who they love or fall in love with. It's not something that anyone can control. Gay couples, biracial couples, short couples, tall couples, all couples are beautiful. When people love others, it is beautiful. If the love is there, why does it matter? Why should people be judged because they aren't the person that someone else wants them to be. Everybody wants to be loved. Everyone deserves to be loved and no one should ever feel afraid to act on that amazing need...ever.

• I watched Milk last night. It is an amazing movie and story. If you ever get the chance, you should try to watch it....with a box of kleenex and someone you love.

Wonka Lessons

Even though I'm a child of the 90's, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, a movie from 1971, has been one of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember. I watched it today and realized that this movie has a lot of lessons that we should all be aware of. Besides the lessons sung by the Oompa Loompas that even I thought were obvious back when I was about 7 or so. These are all the other just as important messages that I noticed while watching today:

-The innocence of a child is a force more powerful than the power of grown man and his many oompa loompas working together.

-"There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination. Living there, you'll be free if you truly wish to be." --Willy Wonka

-" A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." --Willy Wonka

-The rain cannot fall forever. Better days will come and even when we're feeling as low as we think we could ever possibly be, we need to always keep hope alive. We can't give up. We have to always remember that sometimes it gets worse before it gets better.

-Chocolate has the power to make people crazy.

-Having little to nothing helps up see what's truly important and those are the things that keep up strong when it seems like we have nothing at all.

There might be more but that's all I can think of at the moment. This movie will always be one of my favorites. It's so deep....

Don't be ashamed.

I saw a girl earlier today who had a very cute tote bag that had a picture of what is most likely her favorite band on the front of the bag. What made me upset though, was the fact that she hid the side of her bag that had the picture. I thought the bag was cute and I want one just like it but I also know that people probably made fun of her for having it because they don't approve. How sad is that? Why do people have to be ashamed to wear or use the things they like just because their afraid of what other people will say? I don't like lime green pants but I'm not going to tease someone if they choose to wear them. It makes no sense!

No one should have to live their life according to other people's views!

We don't have to agree on everything and we don't all have to like the same things but we do not have to tease others for liking something that we think is "uncool." Not everyone handles that well and why would you want to make anyone cry? Why would you ever try to hurt someone for having views that are different from yours? It is just stupid!

We need to make progress! We need to find a way to make sure that no one gets hurt for wanting to live their own life and not the life that has been set as the "cool way" by others. To everyone who has every felt that they couldn't be who they really are because they were afraid of what others would think, live the life you think is "cool." Be the person that makes you happy and not the you that others think you should be. You are important. Your thoughts and views are important. Be a reflection of the the most beautiful and special person you could ever be, yourself!

You are as beautiful as the stars in the sky or a perfect rainbow because you were created uniquely and that makes you beautiful, forever and always. You are more beautiful and far more powerful than you could ever imagine. You're strong. Don't let words get to you any day. Open your heart and see how beautiful you are. stress: physical or emotional tension; emphasis; pressure.

People always say that "dealing with stress makes you stonger." It may be true that stress makes us stronger but why does it have to be so hard to handle sometimes. When it makes us feel like there is a mountain on our backs and we feel like giving up because we can't see the point anymore, we need to keep going. We can't give up. I think there just may be a reason for all of our stress problems. I think we go under so much stress so that we can appreciate it more when our lives are going "normal" and things are going "smoothly." Apparently, everything is a lesson and the "stress lesson" teaches us that we can get out of those dark days and that there are better days are ahead. I'd still like to know why is has to be so hard but I understand that it can show us strong and powerful we can be.

Clearly, a lot of stress and hard times means that we're special. Overcoming it and finding a way to smile makes us more powerful that we've ever known ourselves to be before. We can get through the dark days. It's possible. We just have to know that we can never give up hope!

Taking the world by storm, obviously.

Have you seen it yourself yet? Have you witnessed the storm of people and organizations who want to let the whole world know that they are beautiful. There are so many people doing everything they can to let the people everywhere know that you matter, we all matter.

There are so many people that feel so alone, in fear that they are not enough. What we don't realize sometimes is that there are a bunch of place where you can receivve support. I know that this is identical to my last post but between then and now, I've stumbled on a lot of support places and it hit me that the world isn't filled with heartless people despite what so many of us have thought for so long. It turns out that there are many people who have hearts big enough to love themselves, the people close to them, and, saving the best for last, complete strangers!

I'm thankful for each and everyone of them. Although I see all these people with big hearts spreading their love everywhere, I know that there are still people who will judge and disrespect others and they probably always will. It still gives me hope that so many people try each day. Thank you so much beautiful people!!!

A 12 year old girl who was sick of the bullying at her school created a website that could serve as a safe place for girls to gain confidence or talk to someone when they feel alone. Her courage and willingness to help really inspires me and gives me hope. We need more girls who are brave enough to stand strong for what they believe in despite what others will say. At 12 years old, I probably would have just dealt with low confidnece by crying in my room or ripping up a lot of paper. I'm glad that she started this website. She knew she wasn't alone and felt the need to help the other girls who were probably in the same situations. Your Words.

I have seen so many people holding back from saying what's really on their mind. I have to honestly say that I don't always speak up either. Why do people tend to hold back sometimes. Our voices are so powerful. We are so powerful. It's a shame that we can't always see that we can have an impact on others. What makes us afraid to try to make a difference? I know for me, it's the fear that no one will appreciate it or the won't understand the point I'm trying to get across. I was planning to post positive messages all over school but I kept rethinking my idea because I wasn't sure how people at my school would react. I thought that I would maybe get into trouble or that people will write negative things on them or take them down. I shouldn't have worries like that in my mind. I shouldn't have to rethink doing a good deed because I'm afraid of what others will do.

That night, I read my devotional book to help with my confusion and the last sentence of the passage of said, "You never know how someone will react to an act of love."

We should not be afraid to share our love and our passion to help others. We should be able to raise our voice without the fear of being hurt in return. We're made to love and be loved. The first step, I would guess is to love and then you will recieve love in return. I'm not an expert on this but hopefully, people who had this problem will overcome it. We all have the power to love and help others. You matter. We all matter and we are all more powerful than we could ever imagine. Let's not be afraid to use it for good.

Do onto others...

The people who tease and judge others must not be able to see how beautiful they really are. How is it possible that you could see something that is precious and beautiful and then treat it like it doesn't matter? Look in the mirror, I know it may be hard sometimes but you need to see how beautiful and special you are. We are all beautiful and special and we should all be treated that way. I'm sure that all children have been told a million times that we should treat others the way we would like to be treated. What makes us forget that? What makes us think that it's okay to do the total opposite? What has our society become? They teach us to be ourselves and people will like us but no one even begins to protect us from the people who will bring us down for showing the world who we really are. WHY?

I should not have to decide between wearing a shirt with the faces of the three boys who saved me or wearing a shirt that puts me in a place to be teased, judged, and made fun of all day. It just isn't right.

Why is the opposite of being just like everyone else an open door to judgement, harsh criticism, and teasing. Some people have the power to just block it out and not let it get to them. What happens to the people who haven't learned to do that yet? What happens to them? We shouldn't live like that anyway! It's no one else's buiseness what music we should like or what clothes we should wear. Why can't we just live our lives like their golden since that's exactly what we are. Beautiful, precious parts of nature that that deserve to be treated as such! This madness needs to end!!!

My Get Up and Go Playlist.

To go along with my new room and my happiness list, I've decided to make a series of CDs to play as I get ready in the morning. I've chosen upbeat songs that will hopefully pave the way for a great day. It's like a confidence boost in music form. I'm not finished yet. There are still some songs that I want to buy from iTunes like "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John and Tom Cochrane's "Life Is A Highway" among others. I'm also taking suggestions. I think that any upbeat, feel good songs like these will really determine someone's outlook on the day ahead. Happy songs make people happy and happy people won't let negativity get to them.

School Promise

Today, I went with my mom to bring my 5 year old brother and my 3 year old sister to their first day of school. After I got past how cute the uniform was and how adorable it is to see little kids with giant backpacks, it hit me that these kids will hopefully be future doctors, lawyers, policemen, musicians, or anything else that they could imagine. I know that I'm only in high school but it's still amazing to see these little kids who have a world of possibilities! Hopefully, most of them haven't experience the true hard hits that the world can throw at us.

They will learn so much! They're like clean slates. I don't think preschool and elementary school teachers get the credit they deserve. Every surgeon and lawyer needed to learn how to read first. Everyone was taught how to add apples and oranges before they were taught the periodic table. They need so much support. I think that kids start losing passion about their education when they start losing support. Education is the begining of the future. It's funny how some people forget that.

Children are our future. Let's hope they stay away from all things that will bring them down.

When I thought I had lost all hope and told myself that I should stop letting hope in, I turned on my iPod and listened to these two songs. They're both on my iPod but I rarely ever listen to them. Something made me listen to them and I am so glad that I did. I almost gave up on myself but these two songs brought me back. Hope is real. I cannot believe I almost forgot that.

The MONSTER -_-

I've been facing a monster for a while now. I let it attack me because I didn't know how to deal with it. I let it attack me. I allowed myself to believe it when he told me I was the person I am because of him. I let this monster tell me that the things I believed in were stupid and weren't important to anyone else. I let this monster insult my intelligence. I ignored this monster's stand for inequality and just let things go on because I was afraid. Because even though this person hurting me is a monster, I didn't want to hurt them. I feared the reaction that I might have recieved if I told him my true feelings. I was afraid that he would just treat me worse and I thought I didn't have the self-esteem to deal with it.

I refuse to take the criticism. I refuse to let him put me down anymore and then blame everyone else for the way I treat him when the way I treat him is the result of the way he puts me down and talks to me like I don't have any feelings. It's all been so much to handle and worry about but I've recently realized that I'm so much more smarter than this monster. For one, I don't treat people the way he does. I would never treat a part of me the way he treats me. It just isn't right. I would never insult anyone's intelligence the way he insults mine. It won't make me a better person if I put everyone else beneath me so why should I keep ignoring it when he does it. I won't stand for it anymore. I'm letting this monster know that he cannot harm me anymore. I'm not going to let him bring me down anymore because I've realized that monsters don't think the way humans do and letting him get to me is just stupid. I know that I'm pretty okay person and not because I'm his child. I don't get good grades just because I'm his child and I'm not mature for my age because I'm his child like he says. I am who I am because, just like everyone else, I see the world through my own eyes and deal with it the way I think it should be dealt and not by following what others tell me. I'm not going to let him ruin me ever again....

I'm learning to love myself and I will not let this monster get in the way of that ever.

reasons to smile (:

I challenge you, whoever is reading this, to get a sheet of paper and keep it by your bed. Every night before you go to sleep, write down something that happened that day that you were thankful for, or something that day that made you smile. Maybe it could be something that you noticed about yourself for the first time or a compliment that you recieved. Or it could be song lyrics that you heard that made you feel really happy inside. Keep that list as a reminder that a smile can last forever. That even when you're feeling really low, a smile is always possible. And maybe if it'll help you more, you can take the list around with you. Hopefully, you can use this as a way to smile more. It works for me and I hope it will work for you too. The world will always love a smile.

True Colors

My mom thinks that I should rename my blog "you're beautiful" because I say it in almost every post. The thing is, I stongly believe that beauty is all around. It doesn't fit into any stereotype. It's real and ageless. It can be found everywhere! Everyone on this planet is beautiful and unique. The trouble is we don't always see how beautiful each one of us really is. We get so caught up in the "image of beauty" that's sent to us through the media. We all need to see how beautiful we are. That's why I keep posting things like this. That's why I love the people at twitter.com/projectbeauty and operationbeautiful.com. That's why I send messages letting people now how beautiful they are just incase a day goes by where they've managed to forget it. The message needs to be spread so we can remember it always. We are Beautiful. Always.
