Did you hear those words?

We are not perfect. This country is very, very far from being perfect so why does our President have to be perfect? Support him. He's here for us. Help him help us.

Raise your voice. Be a part of the "peace" that can change this country. Help change it for the better. Eliminate the hate, the anger, the discrimination, the unfairness, the ridicule....none of it is necessary. We can't go forward if we're holding ourselves back. We can't get stuck and we cannot regress!

I thought I heard words of encouragement tonight from the President. I want to be a part of change and tonight, the President told me to keep going.

President Obama talked about PEACE

On August 31st of 2010, President Obama addressed the nation on his plan to end the war in Iraq in hopes of creating more peace. The President addressed the combat in Iraq that has lasted the past ten years. President Obama discussed the toll that the war has taken on our country and the country of Iraq as well as our suffering economy. The statement the stood out the most to me was his decision to let the Iraqi people find peace on their own and to basically let them be and live their own lives.

Although it all sounds very wonderful, I thought President Obama’s speech was a very typical politician speech. In my opinion, the president was simply addressing his 2008 campaign promises. If his plans of ending combat in Iraq and instating a peace between the two countries, then I think the entire speech was wonderful and the plan is very promising. I have faith that it will work out. However, even though this is something that the nation has been wanting for years, I’m very sure that people will disapprove because it’s something that President Obama has brought up and it’s much more popular to disagree with the president than it is to agree with him. I think now that the president has chosen to go in the direction to end the war, our nation will be on a very bumpy road because we will need to recover after the war and after all of the troops come home. It’s going to be very hard for the troops when they come home. They will have to find jobs, which aren’t an easy task in this economy. They also have to struggle with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder which can be very hard for them and for their families. In my opinion, I think that the entire country will have to work together for the recovery process to go well and that might be our toughest hurdle. United we stand and divided we fall, they are such simple words but if we truly lived by them, our country could work wonders.

gotta keep on

Just completed my second week of college. Tons of reading and quizzes and little sleep but it's all working out amazingly. I do sleep really well on the days I don't have classes. I love sleeping in. Even after I do wake up, I like to stay in my bed and text for a while. It's very relaxing. *insert dramatic sigh and stare into space* :)

Right now I'm relaxing while watching the titanic. Awesome movie. It's great to work hard. When you work hard, you see results but it is just as important to take a break and relax. Don't push yourself. It's not healthy at all. So many people work themselves to death, I want to be successful but I'm not planning on making that one of the things I do correctly.

Peace within Kiyanna. It's very important. I like it. it works. I hope you know what creates peace within you. Make it work for you. You know it's working when you can feel your heart smiling.

  • Peace is possible. It's just going to be really hard to achieve.
  • Smile are beautiful and precious and wonderful.
  • being true to yourself can be hard sometimes but it's pretty awesome
  • love knows no barriers. at least it shouldn't. I'm not talking about let's get married love though. I'm talking about I care for you and you care for me, I respect you and you respect me, I won't harm you with words from my mouth...etc. hopefully you get it! =]
  • Watching kids cartoons, the good ones, really calm me down. The ones like Arthur, Rugrats, the Smurfs, the magic school bus, recess, the little mermaid, stuff like that.

  • Good friends are hard to find. That's probably why they give the best hugs and have the best smiles and are just filled with awesome.

The world is waiting.

I want to travel the world. I don't want to stay in any little box. The world is waiting for peace and love. To achieve that, I think that we have to be open and willing to explore and accept cultures and traditions outside of our own. I don't understand why more people aren't interested in learning about others. Just because something isn't familiar to you doesn't mean it's bad. Fit it into your schema! Everyone, in every part of the world, needs love. I'm sure that one of the first steps to having that love and peace in the world is accepting people for who they are and loving them because they're beautiful and remarkable and precious. We may not believe in all the same things and we may not all look the same but that's what makes it so exciting. The countless opportunities to see more smiles and to see what love looks like around the world, why shouldn't we want that? I think that's a wonderful desire to learn more about other cultures without disrespecting them. Too often I see and hear people talk harshly about some religions and traditions and entire nations and it makes me think, if you've never lived that way, and you don't know anything about it other than what you've researched, who are you to criticize and judge them? Try to go out and see the world through their eyes. Show them love and respect. It's what we would all like for ourselves and our beliefs. Why then do so many people continue to disrespect the world outside of what they see to be "the right way to live." The world is beautiful. It could be full of love and peace if we just open our eyes and our hearts to accept what's outside of our boxes. It will be worth it.

the more than average girl.

Once upon a time, in an average town, in an average house, there lived an average girl named Amani. Amani was always very sad and confused because she felt like everyone in the world was always really sad or really angry. She spent most of her days crying for all the sad hearts in the world. When she couldn't take the confusion anymore, she decided to ask God for help. Her special prayer went like this:

Dear God,

Help the world to smile again. Please end the pain, the sadness, and the tears. Please bring people happiness. Comfort the sad, the sick, and the lonely. Heal the broken hearts. Help us bring happiness back to our faces. Help us achieve peace. Help us to let love into our hearts again. I don't want to cry anymore. Please help.

Amen.

It's possible for the world to be happy again. It's a goal that we all need to work together to achieve. It's possible and we can make it happen. We need the help of ourselves and othes. We need to know that we can't do it alone. We need to know that it's possible to make this work. :)

Also, the power of prayer is amazing. If you've never tried it, go ahead and go at it. It has the power to work wonders. :)

So, what's the cure?

I am so sick of all the sadness. We can keep running and running but It always finds us. I'm sick of the inequality among people. It's all too much to handle sometimes. I'm sick of the mistreatment of others. Its horrible to see people judge others over simple things like the kind of music they listen to and the way they dress. It's true that people don't see eye to eye on everything but that does not mean that if you disagree on something you can never be friends with that person. It's so wrong! It's not fair. It's just really horrible.

How can people treat others so mean? How can anyone be so horrible to other people even without having had the chance to get to know them. "If you judge people, you have no time to love them" -Mother Teresa.
Why is it so hard for us to listen to what one another and appreciate what others have to say?

Imagine if you were talking and no one could hear it. Imagine all the words you said being thrown into a black hole. It is so depressing. How can we fix it so that everyone's voice can be heard and appreciated?

I'm so sick and tired of people who have the same dreams not getting along at all. So tired of people who want the same thing fighting over who can do it better. If someone want to help you, unless it's absolutely unnecessary, let them. It's okay to be helped sometimes, especially if you want to do something like making a better world.

People can be so evil sometimes and it is so hard for be to be nice and just ignore it. It's hard for me to want to keep writing nice things to people. It's hard for me to keep helping people even when no one says thank you and I'm just left feeling unappreciated. But I do everything in my power to just ignore it and saw "f**k it," I'm not going to stop my nice efforts because of mean people.

So....
If anyone is reading this, you're beautiful and perfect in every way. Don't let anyone tell you that you're not a special person. Be nice to others because we're all precious and it is wrong to harm anything as precious as a thinking and feeling human being. We have to appreciate others more for the sake of the world. When we leave this earth, we should leave a place filled with love and happiness, not pain and despair. We should leave a place where no one is abused and bullied. Where depression is only found in history books. I believe that someday the world will be a better place but we all have to start working on it today.
